Bobby Hanig’s greatest pride is his family—his wife Dana and daughter Lila. At home, he has built a life rooted in love, faith, and responsibility, and those same values shape the way he serves northeastern North Carolina.
Bobby knows strong families are the foundation of strong communities. Whether fighting for parents’ rights in education, protecting the unborn, or standing firm for conservative values, Bobby carries his family’s example into public service. For him, serving in Washington is about safeguarding the future for families across the 1st Congressional District.
Service at Every Level
Bobby has always answered the call to serve. His journey began in the U.S. Army, continued as a small business owner in Currituck County, and grew into elected office.
From Chairman of the Currituck County Board of Commissioners to the North Carolina House of Representatives and now the State Senate, Bobby has consistently fought for taxpayers, accountability, and conservative values. His devotion to his wife Dana and daughter Lila continues to inspire his leadership every step of the way.
Entrepreneurship and Duty
Starting out as “the pool guy,” Bobby built a one-man operation into two thriving businesses serving nearly 400 properties across the Outer Banks. He knows what it takes to meet a payroll, create jobs, and navigate the challenges small business owners face daily.
Combined with his Army service, where he learned discipline, responsibility, and duty to country, Bobby’s real-world experience fuels his fight against government overreach and his promise to stand firm for veterans, taxpayers, and American values.

Bobby in the Senate
Bobby Hanig is a proven conservative leader who proudly serves North Carolina in the State Senate. With a record of delivering results, he has worked to protect taxpayers, strengthen families, and put our state on the path to growth and security.
In the 2025–2026 legislative session, Bobby continues to be a trusted voice in the Senate, serving in key leadership roles:
- Chairman – Appropriations on General Government and Information Technology
- Chairman – State and Local Government Committee
- Vice Chair – Joint Legislative Committee on Local Government
He also serves as a member of the Agriculture, Energy, and Environment; Education/Higher Education; Regulatory Reform; and Transportation Committees. In addition, he contributes his leadership to the Joint Legislative Emergency Management Oversight Committee and the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on General Government.
Bobby’s leadership reflects his commitment to fiscal responsibility, economic growth, public safety, and preserving the values that make North Carolina strong. Whether it’s defending our farmers, supporting education, advancing smart energy policies, or ensuring government works efficiently for the people, Bobby Hanig is focused on results—not politics.
